Hey everyone! Hope you're all doing well. As you know we've been having some issues getting to the next step. But we finally got over the hump. We've decided to remove the idea of getting donations and move into just packing rubber bands and instructions for the basic bracelets. We set aside a couple hours to organize and package everything. It was fun to do and we got a lot done!
It ended up getting pretty crazy and it was a huge mess to clean up, but it was most definitely worth it. We packaged boys and girls rubber band packages. Some are just a variety of colors while other are gender associated or colors we thought looked good together.
Then we tried to make the packages as pretty as possible. The pink are for the girls, obviously. While the green are for the boys. Inside contains; 1 cup of rubber bands (approximately 40g), a pack of clips, and instructions on the three most basic bracelets, plus a bracelet you can make without an actual loom. We are really excited about our accomplishment and will be taking all the packages to the hospital sometime within the next week. Thankyou for the support and I will keep you updated!

One more 20% project update

Nothing much has been happening lately. The last time I talked to rainbow loom they said that if I can get the hospitals tax ID then we could possibly get donations through rainbow loom. The lady hasn't replied, but we are going to stay persistent. Hopefully it will all work out. I have a good feeling about this! I'll keep you updated as much as possible. As for now, it's progressing slowly but surely. Goodbye!

Another 20% update

Hey everyone! So as you all know there have been some major difficulties throughout our 20% project. The lady at the hospital that we have been talking to hasn't been responding to any of our calls or emails. She seemed very interested in our project and our proposal, but then it seems she lost all interest. We also haven't gotten a reply from rainbow loom about the donation but we are hopeful. I'll keep you updated!

Update: 20% project... Post pitch presentation

Hey guys! Alright, so as you all know we had the pitch presentation on Thursday! It went really well and a lot of people were very interested in what we were doing and what we had to say. At first not many people stopped by. Once I started losing interest in the pitch project I started making the bracelets. Then, just like that people started coming. They started asking questions and better yet.... Asking for bracelets! My group decided to start selling the bracelets for $1, just so we could raise some money. But that was after the first 3 1/2 out of 4 hours had already passed so we didn't make much money. If I could've I definitely would've started selling the bracelets from the get go.

20% Project Update

Hi! My group and I have made some huge accomplishments throughout the 20% project. Although, it took a lot of hard work and persistence. At first we contacted rainbowloom asking for a donation or either looms or runner bands. They quickly got back to us but said that we would have to contact a nearby store that sold rainbowloom. The first thing that came to mind was a Michael's store right across the street from our high school. Chloe and I went there and asked for a manager. Once we met the manager we explained our project and the situation that we are in and he said that he would contact headquarters. After about 3 weeks of waiting for a reply from either him or headquarters there was nothing. I called him and he (Gus) said that they still hadn't gotten back to him. So I decided to take it into my own hands. I called Michael's phone number that's on their website and spoke to someone. I explained the situation and they were reluctant to do anything. Finally after multiple long conversations they gave in. They said that if I contacted rainbowloom and told them to talk to Michael's they could work something out. I sent rainbow loom and email and within days they responded. They gave me a donation form and Mia filled it out. Oh! I forgot the mention... Gus (the Michaels store manager) gave us some rubber bands that couldn't be sold because their bags had broken. From here we plan to get a reply from rainbowloom and figure out a way to get more looms. I'm very happy just getting rubber bands but some looms would be great! I'm excited to see what come and help children in the hospital. I think that tomorrows pitch presentation will turn out well and hopefully some people will want to help! I'll keep you updated, but until then, goodbye!

You have 7 seconds

Even after a first impression you can eventually change someone's idea of you, but the first impression has the greatest impact. First impressions play a huge role in the course of a relationship. Studies show that if the people take a liking to eachother immediately, the relationship will most likely grow over time. If one person is cold to the other, the relationship is most likely doomed.

A test was done with college students (putting them in same sex pairs) and predicting the outcome of their relationship. Even after having to interact with eachother over a nine week period, the first impression played the biggest role. Sunnfrank thought that continued interaction would dilute the first impression but he was suprised to see that there was a continued impact. After being paired and talking for ten minutes and ratin eachother people who rated their partners higher ended up having the strongest relationships.

Keep Dreaming

People often go about their day thinking that they hadn't dreamed the night before, but that's not always true. Recalling your dreams has to do with your medial prefrontal cortex. Everyone dreams, but some don't remember their dreams once they wake up. There are two different types of people, high dream recallers and low dream recallers. High dream recallers remember their dreams after sleep more often than low dream recallers. Studies show that high dream recallers have twice as many times of wakefulness during sleep than low dream recallers. Also, their brains are more reactive to auditory stimuli while both asleep and awake.

The areas of your brain determine whether you are a high or low dream recaller. High dream recallers tend to have more spontaneous brain activity in their temporiparietal junction and their medial prefrontal cortex.

"The sleeping brain is not capable of memorizing new information; it needs to be awake to do that" said Perrine Ryby. His statement explains why high dream recallers have more times of wakefulness. Not only do the dreamers differ in recall, they also differ in their dream production.
